An erotic object refers to something experienced as an intensely pleasurable, not to mention often a deeply meaningful, source of attention, attraction, and delight. It might evoke strong emotions and a heightened sense of openness and vulnerability, but it need not be deemed sexually arousing or connected to sexual behaviour. Instead, an erotic object can range from an artwork to a scent, a lock of hair, a photograph, a heartfelt note, a gaze, or the memory of a meaningful encounter. Ultimately, the pleasure derived from an erotic object is unique to its observer.
